We met online in 1997 at gay.com when there was a single chat room for the whole West Coast! I don't usually believe in fate, but it was fate that night when he was home alone and I was using my newly purchased computer. After a month of phone calls and chatting, we took that pivotal step to meet and go out on an actual date.
Our first date was dinner along the Willamette River in Eugene, Oregon. He lived in a totally different part of the state, but he was in town with some friends for the Oregon Country Fair. So we set aside an evening for our date. After dinner, we went to see the movie Contact. I had already seen it the night before with friends, but I told him I hadn't seen it (what a great way to start out a relationship!). It was a great night, and it was the first time I was with someone where I felt terrified and unbelievably excited at the same time.
We've been together for 11 years (77 gay years), and it has been a wonderful experience. Erik is the funny one, I'm the talker. Erik is the driver, I'm the navigator. We balance each other out in so many ways. We just got married recently, however we've felt married for a long time now. We're looking to meet other couples (even a fag hag if you're out there, we need one BAD) for friendship, movies, dinner, parties, etc. If you want to know more about us, feel free to email us!
Stopped by to say hi to our SoCal neighbors. Nice pic, great profile! We've got a couple friends in Hillcrest maybe we can all get together next time we are down there.
Do you want to live in a country that legalizes discrimination? Despite the recent California Supreme Court decision that denying same-sex couples the right to marry is unconstitutional, efforts are underway throughout the country to take away rights from same-sex couples.
I just joined thousands of others in showing my support for marriage equality for all. But recently, proponents of bigotry and hate collected even more signatures in an attempt to invalidate the California Supreme Court decision. And they won't stop with California - extremists are even trying to add a ban of marriage for same-sex couples to the U.S. Constitution.
We are at a turning point in our nation's history and I'm hoping you'll join me in standing up against discrimination. Please sign the Million for Marriage petition and get us one name closer to showing that Americans overwhelmingly support marriage equality!
